Instead of simply handing out animal crackers, we’re putting those little guys to work.
Kids get to match their animals two by two, place them on crunchy edible “ark planks,” and enjoy a snack while learning about Noah’s obedience and God’s faithfulness.
It’s simple enough for Sunday school.
Cute enough for a Noah’s Ark party.
And easy enough that you won’t need an engineering degree to build an ark out of graham crackers. 😂
A Fun Noah’s Ark Bible Activity You Can Eat
One reason I love Bible snacks is that food gives kids something tangible to connect with the lesson.
When you’re teaching about Noah, you have SO many visual elements kids can remember:
The ark.
The animals.
The rain.
The rainbow.
And, of course…
The animals going two by two!
For this activity, we’re focusing specifically on the animals.
Kids can search through their animal crackers, find matching or similar animals, and place their pairs onto graham cracker “ark planks.”
Then they get to eat the entire lesson.

What You’ll Need for Your Two by Two Snack
Keep this one EASY.
You’ll need:
- Animal crackers
- Graham crackers
- Blueberries or another blue snack food
- Rainbow-colored fruit or cereal, optional
- Paper plates
- Napkins
That’s it!
The graham crackers become our little ark planks, the animal crackers represent the animals entering the ark, and the blue food can represent the water.
You can add a few colorful pieces of fruit or cereal as a reminder of the rainbow God placed in the sky after the flood.
How to Make the Two by Two Animal Snack
There really isn’t much “making” involved, which is exactly why this works so well for a busy Sunday school morning.
1. Build the Ark Planks
Give each child two or three graham cracker rectangles.
Place them beside each other on the plate to look like wooden planks.
No frosting.
No balancing walls.
No snack collapsing five seconds before the kids arrive.
We’re keeping Noah’s snack construction VERY manageable today. 😂
2. Find the Animals
Give each child a handful of animal crackers.
Now comes the fun part.
Ask them:
Can you find two animals that match?
Depending on your animal crackers, they may not find perfect pairs.
That’s okay!
Two lions? Perfect.
A lion and something we’re PRETTY sure is another lion?
Also perfect. 😂
The point is to get them thinking about the animals going onto the ark.
3. Send Them Two by Two
Once the kids find their animal pairs, let them place the crackers on their graham cracker ark.
Say together:
“Two by two!”
You can explain that God instructed Noah to bring the animals into the ark.
This turns an ordinary snack into a simple hands-on Noah’s Ark Bible activity.
Add the Flood Water
Place blueberries underneath the graham crackers to represent water.
You could also use another blue food that works for your class.
While you’re adding the water, talk briefly about the flood and why Noah and his family were safe inside the ark.
Keep the explanation appropriate for the age group you’re teaching.
For younger children, I would keep the focus on this:
Noah listened to God. God cared for Noah. And God kept His promise.
That’s a pretty BIG truth to learn from a pretty little snack. ❤️
Don’t Forget God’s Rainbow Promise
After the flood, God placed a rainbow in the sky as a sign of His covenant.
If you want to represent this part of the story, add a few pieces of colorful fruit or rainbow cereal to the plate.

Talk About Noah While the Kids Eat
Snack time is the perfect opportunity to reinforce the Bible story without making it feel like another lesson.
Try asking:
Who told Noah to build the ark?
God!
What did Noah do?
He obeyed God.
Who went onto the ark?
Noah’s family and the animals.
How did the animals go?
Two by two!
What did God put in the sky after the flood?
A rainbow!
And then bring it back to the bigger lesson:
Can we trust God?
YES. ❤️
Simple questions like these help connect what the kids are eating with what they’ve just learned.
Turn It Into a Two by Two Animal Cracker Game
Before anyone eats their snack, make it a game!
Give each child a small pile of animal crackers and see who can create the most pairs.
You could say:
Ready? Let’s get the animals onto the ark!
Have everyone search for matching animals.
When they find a pair, they place them on their graham cracker ark.
No prizes needed.
The prize is animal crackers.
We’re working with a very sophisticated reward system here. 😂
For younger children, teachers can help identify the different animals.
Older kids can sort them independently.

Noah trusted God.
Noah obeyed God.
And God was faithful.
When the kids see those little animals lined up two by two, remind them that the story isn’t really about cute animals and a giant boat.
It’s about GOD.
His faithfulness.
His promises.
And His Word.
