Noah’s Ark Animals Two-by-Two Snack
The idea is simple: give each child a little “ark” filled with pairs of animal crackers.
As the kids find matching animals, you can talk about Noah, his obedience to God, and the animals God sent to the ark.
It turns snack time into a tiny Bible lesson without making it feel like another lesson.
And I’m pretty sure animal crackers automatically make everything more fun.
The Bible Story Behind the Snack
When God instructed Noah to build the ark, He also told him that living creatures would come into the ark to be kept alive.
Genesis 6:19–20 tells us about the animals coming into the ark, and Genesis 6:22 gives us another incredibly important part of Noah’s story:
Noah obeyed God.
That gives us two really simple truths to teach kids:
God had a plan.
And…
Noah trusted God enough to obey Him.
You can read Genesis 6:19–22 together before making or eating the snack.
What You’ll Need
You only need a few things:
- Animal crackers
- Small paper snack cups, boats, or brown paper food trays
- Blue napkins
- Optional rainbow sprinkles or rainbow candies
- Optional Noah’s Ark Bible verse cards
- Optional small clear treat bags if you’re making these ahead of time
For younger kids, I would keep it especially simple: animal crackers + a little ark-shaped snack container + a blue napkin underneath.

How to Make the Noah’s Ark Animal Cracker Snack
1. Make Your Little Ark
Place a small brown paper food tray or snack cup on top of a blue napkin.
The brown container becomes your “ark,” while the blue napkin represents the floodwaters.
No advanced crafting degree required.

2. Add the Animal Crackers
Give each child a handful of animal crackers.
Before eating them, have the kids look through their crackers and see whether they can find any matching animals.
Two lions?
Two elephants?
Two giraffes?
Into the ark they go!
And yes, if somebody gets six camels and zero lions, we’re still going to call it Biblical snack-time success. 😂
3. Add a Little Rainbow
If you’d like to connect this snack to God’s promise after the flood, add a tiny amount of rainbow sprinkles or a few colorful candies.
You don’t need much.
The animal crackers should still be the star of this snack.
Turn It Into a Two-by-Two Animal Game
Here’s where this snack gets even more fun.
Before anyone starts eating, tell the kids:
“Let’s see how many animals we can send into Noah’s ark two by two!”
Have them dump their crackers onto their napkin and start matching.
When they find two matching animals, they can place the pair into their little ark.
You can ask questions while they work:
“Who told Noah to build the ark?”
“What did Noah do when God gave him instructions?”
“How do you think Noah felt when God asked him to build such a huge ark?”
“What does it mean to obey God?”
“Can we trust God even when we don’t understand everything yet?”
Suddenly that $3 box of crackers is pulling double duty as snack AND Bible activity.

A Simple Noah’s Ark Lesson While Kids Eat
Once everybody has found their animal pairs, bring the focus back to the most important part of the activity.
God.
You could say something like:
“God gave Noah a really big job. Noah didn’t know everything that was going to happen, but he trusted God and obeyed Him. When God asks us to do something, we can trust Him too.”
For older elementary kids, talk a little more about obedience.
Sometimes obeying God is easy.
Sometimes it isn’t.
Noah’s story gives us an incredible example of someone choosing to follow God’s instructions even when the assignment was enormous.
That’s a truth kids can carry with them long after the animal crackers disappear.
