Can I confess something?
Some days…
I’m a complete hot mess. Not the cute “Oops, I forgot to switch the laundry” kind.
I’m talking about the kind where my brain has approximately 847 thoughts before 8:00 a.m.
Did I lock the front door? Did I answer that email? Why did I say that weird thing three days ago?
Should I have added more milk to my coffee? Wait… where’s my coffee?
Some days I honestly wonder if my ADHD has my brain running a marathon before I’ve even finished breakfast.
Can anyone else relate?
If overthinking burned calories… I’d have abs.
If worrying solved problems… I’d have life completely figured out.
Spoiler alert… It doesn’t.
Here’s what I’ve learned the hard way.
Anxiety is loud. Jesus is louder.
Anxiety tells me I have to carry everything myself.
Jesus says, “Give it to Me.”
Anxiety whispers, “What if everything falls apart?”
Jesus reminds me, “I’ve been holding the world together since the beginning.”
Friend…
If your mind has been racing… If you’ve been carrying worries that feel heavier than you can handle…
If you’ve smiled on the outside while secretly feeling overwhelmed on the inside…
You’re not alone. More importantly… You’re not alone because Jesus is with you.
Let’s open God’s Word together. Because His peace is stronger than our panic.
25 Bible Verses About Anxiety
1. Proverbs 3:5ā6 ā Trust God Even When You Don’t Understand
š What My Anxiety Says…
“I’m never going to figure this out.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Proverbs 3:5ā6 (KJV)
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Can I be honest?
My brain LOVES trying to figure everything out.
I’ll make Plan A, Plan B, Plan C… and then immediately panic because I don’t have a Plan Q.
Meanwhile, Jesus is probably saying, “Cassie… sweet girl… I never asked you to solve tomorrow. I asked you to trust Me today.”
The best part?
God already knows the ending while I’m still stressing over chapter two.
2. Isaiah 41:10 ā God Is Holding You Up
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Everyone probably thinks I’m weird.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Good news…
Jesus already knows I’m weird.
He knows I’ve walked into a room and forgotten why.
He knows I’ve lost my keys while they were in my hand.
He knows every awkward conversation, every embarrassing moment, and every anxious thought.
And somehow…
He still loves me exactly the same.
I’ll take His opinion over everyone else’s every single time.
3. Philippians 4:6ā7 ā Trade Anxiety for God’s Peace
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Remember that awkward thing you said six years ago?”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Philippians 4:6ā7 (KJV)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Meanwhile…
Everyone else is asleep.
My brain is hosting a full-blown committee meeting.
This verse doesn’t tell me to fake a smile or pretend I’m never anxious.
It tells me to bring every single worry to Jesus.
Overthinking has never given me peace.
Jesus always does.
4. Matthew 6:34 ā Stop Borrowing Tomorrow’s Worries
š What My Anxiety Says…
“What if the worst happens?”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
I’ve imagined some pretty wild worst-case scenarios.
You know how many actually happened?
Almost none of them.
Anxiety loves writing stories that God never wrote.
Jesus gently reminds me to live today because He’s already taking care of tomorrow.
5. 1 Peter 5:7 ā Give Jesus Your Worries
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re carrying this alone.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
I love that this verse says all.
Not just the “big” worries.
The little ones too.
The parenting worries.
The money worries.
The “I think everyone secretly hates me because I accidentally left them on read” worries.
Jesus isn’t annoyed by our anxious hearts.
He invites us to hand every burden to Him because He genuinely cares.
6. John 14:27 ā Real Peace Comes from Jesus
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You need to have everything under control.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
John 14:27 (KJV)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
I’ve tried controlling everything.
Spoiler alert…
I’m terrible at being God.
Every time I grip tighter, I become more anxious.
Every time I surrender it to Jesus, my heart breathes a little easier.
Turns out…
He’s much better at running the universe than I am.
7. 2 Timothy 1:7 ā Fear Doesn’t Get the Final Say
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re not strong enough.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Honestly…
You’re right.
I’m not strong enough.
And that’s okay.
Jesus never asked me to carry the weight of the world.
He already did that.
His strength is more than enough for every anxious thought, every fearful moment, and every “I don’t know how I’m going to make it” day.
8. Joshua 1:9 ā You Never Walk Alone
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re all alone.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
I love this verse because God doesn’t say,
“Figure it out.”
He says,
“I’m going with you.”
Into the doctor’s office.
Into the hard conversation.
Into the waiting season.
Into the unknown.
Whatever you’re facing today…
Jesus got there before you did.
9. Psalm 46:1 ā God Is Your Safe Place
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Everything is falling apart!”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Some days life feels like a three-ring circus.
The laundry is multiplying.
The coffee got cold.
The kids are asking for snacks for the fifteenth time.
And my brain is trying to solve next Tuesday before I’ve even survived Monday.
But while my world feels shaky…
Jesus never is.
He’s still my refuge.
He’s still my strength.
He’s still faithful.
10. Isaiah 26:3 ā Perfect Peace Starts with Jesus
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’ll never have peace.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Perfect peace doesn’t come from having a perfect schedule, a spotless house, or finally answering every email in my inbox.
Believe me…
I’ve tried.
Peace comes from fixing my eyes on Jesus instead of my fears.
The more I stare at my problems, the bigger they seem.
The more I stare at my Savior, the smaller my fears become.
And that’s exactly where I want my heart to stay.
11. Romans 15:13 ā God Is the Source of Real Hope
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Nothing is ever going to get better.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Romans 15:13 (KJV)
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Anxiety has a funny way of convincing me that today is forever.
Jesus reminds me that He’s the God of hope.
Not “maybe.”
Not “we’ll see.”
Hope.
When I can’t see what’s ahead…
He already can.
12. Psalm 55:22 ā You Weren’t Meant to Carry It Alone
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You just need to try harder.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Have you ever carried seventeen grocery bags inside because you refused to make two trips?
Yeah…
That’s basically how I treat my worries.
Jesus keeps saying,
“Hand them to Me.”
Apparently He’s not impressed by my emotional weightlifting.
13. Psalm 94:19 ā God Brings Comfort to Anxious Hearts
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Your mind is never going to slow down.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 94:19 (KJV)
“In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.”
“The multitude of my thoughts.”
Whoever wrote this…
Gets me.
God isn’t surprised by our racing minds.
He’s the One who brings comfort right into the middle of the chaos.
When my thoughts are loud…
His comfort is louder.
14. Psalm 23:4 ā Jesus Walks With You Through Fear
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re not going to make it through this.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 23:4 (KJV)
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Notice something?
God doesn’t always take us around the valley.
Sometimes He walks us through it.
And honestly…
I’d rather walk through a valley with Jesus than stand on a mountaintop without Him.
15. Psalm 34:4 ā God Hears Every Cry
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Nobody understands what you’re feeling.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 34:4 (KJV)
“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
There have been moments when I couldn’t even put my feelings into words.
You know what?
Jesus still understood.
Even when all I had were tears…
He knew exactly what my heart was saying.
16. Psalm 91:1ā2 ā You Can Rest in God’s Presence
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You always have to be on guard.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 91:1ā2 (KJV)
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
Sometimes my brain acts like it’s the head of security for the entire planet.
Spoiler alert…
I’m not.
God is my refuge.
Not my overthinking.
Not my backup plans.
Him.
17. Psalm 121:1ā2 ā Look Up Instead of Around
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re on your own.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Psalm 121:1ā2 (KJV)
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
My anxiety tells me to look at everything that’s going wrong.
Jesus gently lifts my eyes higher.
My help has never come from having all the answers.
My help comes from the One who created heaven and earth.
18. Deuteronomy 31:8 ā God Goes Before You
š What My Anxiety Says…
“What if tomorrow is too much?”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
Tomorrow doesn’t scare Jesus.
He’s already there.
Before I wake up.
Before I worry.
Before I make my first cup of coffee…
God has already gone ahead of me.
19. Hebrews 13:6 ā Fear Doesn’t Get to Be the Boss
š What My Anxiety Says…
“What are people going to think?”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Hebrews 13:6 (KJV)
“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
Can we all agree?
We spend way too much time worrying about opinions that don’t actually matter.
At the end of the day…
I’d rather hear Jesus say, “Well done,” than spend my life trying to make everyone happy.
20. Matthew 11:28ā30 ā Jesus Invites the Weary
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You just need to keep pushing.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Matthew 11:28ā30 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Jesus never said,
“Work harder.”
He said,
“Come to Me.”
That’s an invitation I’ll never get tired of accepting.
21. Romans 8:38ā39 ā Nothing Can Separate You from God’s Love
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Maybe God is tired of you.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Romans 8:38ā39 (KJV)
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Read that again.
Nothing.
Not your anxiety.
Not your doubts.
Not your mess.
Nothing can separate you from the love of Jesus.
Now that’s something worth celebrating.
22. Nahum 1:7 ā God Is Your Safe Place
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re not safe.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Nahum 1:7 (KJV)
“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
Jesus doesn’t just know your name.
He knows your heart.
Your fears.
Your sleepless nights.
Your silent prayers.
And He’s still your safe place.
23. Zephaniah 3:17 ā God Delights in You
š What My Anxiety Says…
“You’re too much for God.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)
“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
This verse melts my heart every time.
The God of the universe isn’t rolling His eyes at you.
He’s rejoicing over you.
Imagine that.
The Creator of everything…
Sings over His children.
24. Lamentations 3:22ā23 ā Every Morning Is a Fresh Start
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Yesterday was a disaster.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
Lamentations 3:22ā23 (KJV)
“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Good thing God’s mercy doesn’t run on my schedule.
Because I need it…
Every.
Single.
Morning.
No matter what happened yesterday…
Today begins with His faithfulness.
25. John 16:33 ā Jesus Has Already Won
š What My Anxiety Says…
“Everything is falling apart.”
āļø What Jesus Says…
John 16:33 (KJV)
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus never promised life would be easy.
He promised He’d overcome it.
So when anxiety starts shouting…
I want to remember the final word doesn’t belong to fear.
It belongs to Jesus.
And Jesus has already won.
Friend…
That’s the kind of hope we can hold ontoāeven on our most anxious days.
One Last Thing…
Can I leave you with this?
Anxiety is loud. Really loud.
It tells us to expect the worst, carry everything ourselves, and somehow have our entire lives figured out by Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile… Jesus is over here saying,
“Come to Me.” Not…
“Come to Me after you stop overthinking.”
Not…
“Come to Me after you get your life together.”
Just… “Come to Me.”
Friend, I don’t know what you’re carrying today.
Maybe it’s a diagnosis. Maybe it’s a broken relationship.
Maybe it’s finances. Maybe it’s your kids.
Maybe it’s something you’ve never told another person.
Whatever it is…
You don’t have to carry it by yourself anymore.
Jesus loves you too much to let you struggle alone.
Every one of these Bible verses about anxiety points to the same truth:
God is faithful. God is near. God is in control.
And Jesus is still bigger than whatever is making your heart race today.
So take a deep breath.
Read these verses again tomorrow.
Write your favorite one on a sticky note. Tape it to your bathroom mirror. Save it as your phone wallpaper.
Hide God’s Word in your heart. Because when anxiety starts talking…
Let’s answer it with Scripture.
Prayer
Jesus,
Thank You for loving us even on the days when our minds won’t slow down.
Thank You for never getting frustrated when we come to You with the same worries over and over again.
Help us remember that Your peace is greater than our panic, Your truth is louder than our fears, and Your love is stronger than anything we’re facing today.
When our thoughts start racing, help us pause and remember that You’re still on the throne.
Remind us that You already know tomorrow, so we don’t have to be afraid of it.
Teach us to trade our “what ifs” for “God, I trust You.”
And when anxiety tries to steal our joy, gently lead our hearts back to You.
Thank You for never leaving us, never giving up on us, and never changing.
We love You, Jesus.
In Your precious name,
Amen.
