And somehow… God still wanted me.

Well…
This is awkward.🫣
Most Christian bloggers start with stories about leading Bible studies, memorizing Scripture, or having their lives beautifully organized.
I figured I’d start with the time I got kicked out of church.😬🥸
Actually…
Twice.
Yep.
The same church.
If you’re looking for someone who has life all figured out…
Bless your heart.
I’m still trying to figure out why I walk into a room and immediately forget what I needed.
Welcome to Only JESUS Story… where motherhood is loud, coffee is usually cold, my life is a collection of embarrassing stories, and Jesus somehow keeps turning my messes into reminders of His grace.
Professional Hot Mess
I’ve always had a gift.
Not singing.
Not decorating.
Not folding fitted sheets.
Nope.
My spiritual gift appears to be accidentally creating awkward situations.
I’ve walked into the wrong bathroom.
Waved at people who weren’t waving at me.
Called my kids by every sibling’s name… and sometimes the dog’s.🤣
Spent ten minutes looking for my phone while using it as a flashlight.
Motherhood Keeps You Humble
Before kids, I thought I knew what I was doing.
Now I celebrate when everyone leaves the house wearing matching shoes.
I’ve answered the front door with baby food on my shirt.
I’ve discovered mystery snacks in my purse that deserved their own archaeological dig.
I’ve had conversations that included sentences like:
“Please don’t lick that.”
“We don’t throw underwear at people.”
“Why is there a chicken nugget in my purse?”
Honestly, some days I feel less like a put-together mom and more like an unpaid cruise director who’s losing control of the ship.
The Part That Wasn’t Funny
As much as I can try to find the good and humor out of it now, getting asked to leave church wasn’t funny at all.
It hurt deeply.
There were tears, questions, and moments when I wondered where I belonged.
But this isn’t a story about people getting it wrong.
It’s a story about Jesus getting it right.
Because while people sometimes misunderstand each other, Jesus never stopped pursuing my heart.
Looking back, I can honestly say God used that painful season to draw me closer to Him than I had ever been before.
Sometimes He meets us most powerfully after the plans we thought we needed fall apart.
Jesus Never Asked Me To Be Impressive
I’ve made mistakes.
I’ve said the wrong thing.
I’ve had seasons where I felt like I didn’t fit in.
I’ve questioned myself more times than I can count.
But never—not once—did Jesus say,
“Cassie, come back after you’ve got everything together.”
Instead, He kept saying,
“Come to Me.”
That’s the invitation that changed my life.
Not because I suddenly became perfect.
Because I finally realized I never had to be.🥹
Why I Started Only JESUS Story
I don’t want this website to be another place where people pretend they have perfect faith, perfect families, or perfect lives.
Because that’s exhausting. TRULY!
I want it to feel like sitting across the table from a friend who says,
“Yeah… me too.”
A place where we laugh at the embarrassing stories.
Cry through the hard ones.
Celebrate what God is doing.
And remind each other that our biggest messes are never bigger than God’s grace.
Because if Jesus can take a tattooed hot mess mom who got kicked out of church twice…🥸
…and give her a story worth telling…
Imagine what He can do with YOURS.❤️
So Here’s My Invitation
Come as you are.
Bring the embarrassing stories.
Bring the mom guilt.
Bring the questions.
Bring yesterday’s mistakes.
Bring today’s chaos.
Bring the coffee that’s been reheated four times.
You don’t have to impress anyone here.
You just have to know this:
Jesus isn’t waiting for you to become someone else before He loves you.
He already does.
And if my life can prove anything…
It’s that God loves writing beautiful stories with wonderfully imperfect people.
I’m living proof.
And I’m so glad you’re here. 🤍
Your Turn
Have you ever had an embarrassing moment that makes you laugh now… even though it definitely wasn’t funny at the time?
I’d love to hear it in the comments.
Let’s remind each other that sometimes the best stories begin with the biggest messes… and the biggest reminders that Jesus never lets go.
