Can I tell you a secret?
I don’t like waiting.
Not even a little.
I’m the person who checks the weather app… while standing outside.
I check the tracking number so many times you’d think it was going to update just because I looked again.
I push the elevator button twice even though deep down I know the second push isn’t doing anything.
Apparently, I like pretending I’m helping.
So naturally…
When God says, “Wait.”
My first thought is usually…
“Are You sure?”
Because if I’m honest, I’d love God’s plans with just a tiny bit less waiting.
Maybe a Fast Pass.
A VIP lane. Oh, wouldn’t that be nice.🥸
A heavenly “Skip Intro” button.
But that’s not usually how God works.
And as much as I wish it were…
I’m so thankful He doesn’t run His plans by my impatient timeline.
Why Does God Make Us Wait?
I used to think waiting meant nothing was happening.
Now I’m starting to realize…
Waiting is often where God is doing His biggest work.
Not always around us.
But inside us.
Because while I’m busy asking…
“When is this going to happen?”
God is asking…
“Will you trust Me while it doesn’t?”
Ouch.
That’s a much harder question.
My Favorite Waiting Game…
You know what’s funny?
I’ll trust GPS when it tells me to drive through roads I’ve never seen.
I’ll trust Amazon when it says my package will arrive on Thursday.
I’ll trust a recipe I’ve never made before.
But somehow…
I struggle trusting the God who has never once broken a promise.
Funny how that works.
Waiting Doesn’t Mean God Forgot You
Maybe today you’re waiting for…
A new job.
Healing.
A baby.
A relationship.
A prodigal child to come home.
A miracle.
An answered prayer.
Or maybe you’re just trying to figure out what God wants you to do next.
Can I encourage you?
Your waiting season is not proof that God has forgotten you.
It’s not evidence that He stopped listening.
It’s not a sign He loves someone else more.
Sometimes…
God is preparing you.
Sometimes He’s preparing someone else.
Sometimes He’s protecting you from something you can’t see yet.
And sometimes…
He’s simply reminding you that He’s God…
…and we’re not.
The Waiting Room Isn’t Empty
Here’s something I’ve had to remind myself.
God doesn’t send us into the waiting room and leave.
He waits with us.
Every prayer.
Every tear.
Every question.
Every “Lord… are You still there?”
He’s there.
Every single time.
Even when heaven feels quiet.
Even when life doesn’t make sense.
Even when the answer isn’t the one we hoped for.
His presence doesn’t disappear just because His answer hasn’t arrived yet.
What If Waiting Is Actually a Gift?
I know.
Nobody likes hearing that.
I don’t either.
But think about it.
If God gave us everything the second we asked…
Would we ever learn to trust Him?
Would we grow?
Would we depend on Him?
Would we recognize His faithfulness?
Some of the greatest blessings in my life came after seasons I desperately wanted to end.
Looking back…
I’m so grateful God didn’t answer every prayer exactly when I wanted Him to.
Because His timing turned out to be so much better than mine.

Jesus Waited Too
Jesus understood waiting.
He waited thirty years before beginning His public ministry.
He waited for the Father’s timing.
He waited through rejection.
He waited through suffering.
He waited because He knew God’s plan was worth trusting.
If Jesus trusted the Father’s timing…
Maybe I can too.
Even when I don’t understand it.
Final Encouragement
Maybe today you’re refreshing your inbox.
Checking your phone.
Wondering when life is finally going to make sense.
Friend…
God isn’t ignoring you.
He’s not running late.
He’s not scrambling to figure out Plan B.
He’s already in tomorrow.
He’s already working in ways you can’t see.
And one day, I truly believe you’ll look back and realize…
The waiting wasn’t wasted.
It was where God quietly prepared your heart for something bigger than you could have imagined.
Prayer
Jesus,
Waiting is hard.
You already know that because You know my heart better than I do.
Some days I’m excited and full of faith. Other days I wonder if You heard my prayer at all.
Thank You for reminding me that silence doesn’t mean You’re absent and waiting doesn’t mean You’ve forgotten me.
Help me trust You when I don’t have all the answers. Give me peace while I wait, joy in the middle of the unknown, and confidence that Your timing is always better than mine.
No matter what season I’m in, help me keep my eyes on You instead of the clock.
Thank You for always being faithful.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Your Turn
What’s something you’re trusting God with right now?
I’d love to pray for you in the comments.
And remember…
Just because God hasn’t answered yet doesn’t mean He isn’t working.
Sometimes His greatest miracles are happening while we’re still waiting.
